SOUTH BEND - Lucille C. Rich, 87, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on April 22, 1910, and lived her entire life in the South Bend area until four years ago when she moved to Phoenix to live with her son.
She was a former bookkeeper with the South Bend Chamber of Commerce.
In 1930 she married the late Ronald E. Rich, who was first head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, until he passed away in 1959.
She is survived by a sister, Lillian McMillian of Mendham, N.J.; sons, Daniel T. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joseph R. of Roswell, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Virginia of Lanham, Md.; and by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services have been held. A memorial Mass in her honor will be held at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on North Hill Street, South Bend.
