Mary M. Richardson

OSCEOLA - Mary M. Richardson, 98, of Osceola, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 in her residence, with her family at her bedside. Mary was born on April 30, 1910, in Elida, Ohio to the late Sherman D. & Mattie (Baber) Holtzapple. As the former Mary Holtzapple she married Everett L. "Red" Richardson on July 30, 1926 in Cassopolis, MI. Red & Mary were married for fifty-six years. Red passed away on May 16, 1983. Her six children, Betty Myers, Marilyn Singleton, Janet Richardson, Geraldine Kabzinski, Daniel W. Richardson, Sr., all from Mishawaka, IN and Carolyn Moyer of Osceola, IN survive Mary. Mary was a loving & caring grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Anna Reed of Mishawaka, IN, and a brother Wayne Holtzapple of Carenco, LA. Her daughter, Evalene Hicks and her son, Everette Eugene Richardson, along with three sisters and four brothers, preceded Mary in death. who cherished her family. She enjoyed making hand-made quilts. She belonged to a social group of ladies called the Royal Neighbors. Mary spent a couple of years traveling by motor home, through many of the states with her late husband, and her daughter Betty and her late husband. She loved to play Bingo and often took bus trips to do just that with her daughters. She enjoyed talking with her grandchildren about her life, her sewing and gardening. They loved listening to her stories. She was also a past member of the West Side Assembly of God Church in Elkhart, IN.

 

The family will receive friends from 2-6 pm Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 24th at the funeral home with family friend, Shelia Majors officiating. Burial is to follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
