GRANGER - James A. Richards, 59, of
High Meadow Drive, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday in his home after an
illness. Mr. Richards was president of Funston Inc., a diary
products distributor. He was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Mason, Mich.,
and lived in Granger for more than 20 years, coming from Harbor
Springs, Mich.
On May 10, 1958, in Harbor Springs, he
married Eleanor A. Cassidy. She survives with three
daughters, Mary Hughes of Harleysville, Pa., Kelly Cirino
of Wilmington, Del., and Ellen Richards of South Bend; a son, Tim
of South Bend; four grandchildren; his mother, Helen Richards of
St. Johns, Mich.; and three brothers, William of St. Johns,
Thomas of Denver and Rev. C. Jack of Grand Rapids. He was a
graduate of Houghton School of Mining and Technology and Michigan
State University. He was founding member and member of Discovery
Team of Nubs Nob Ski Resort in Michigan and a member of Ambucs
and Special Friends, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend.
He was a former member of the school board in Absecen, N.Y.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the
church. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home,
1201 S. Michigan St., South Bend, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.
Joseph County Inc.
