SOUTH BEND - Iva Elizabeth Rench, 97, of South Bend, IN, passed
away at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Southfield Village,
South Bend. She was born on July 5, 1912, in Galax, VA, to Daniel
William and Amelia (Davis) Redd. Mrs. Rench had lived in South
Bend since 1950, moving from Muncie, IN. On October 11, 1952, in
South Bend, IN, she married Lowell E. Rench, who preceded her in
death on March 19, 1989. Mrs. Rench is survived by several nieces
and nephews including Billy Redd of Galox, VA, Bob Kavanaugh of
Tacoma, WA, and Joel Kavanaugh of Jacksonville, FL. She is also
survived by friends, Virginia Warner, Don and Marjorie Garrard,
and families. One sister and five brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rench retired in 2004 after 57 years as a self-employed
beautician. She was a dear friend to many and her church and her
community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
March 20, 2010, in the Kern Road Mennonite Church, 18211 Kern
Road, South Bend. Rev. David and Janice Sutter will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in
the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St.,
South Bend, and one hour prior to the services on Saturday in
church. Contributions in memory of Iva Elizabeth Rench may be
made to the Kern Road Mennonite Church, 18211 Kern Road, South
