Theodore Donald Renaud, 74, of 50919 Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., went to be with God at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, in St. Joseph Care Center. Known as either Ted or Don, he was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on April 15, 1923, to Theodore A. and Ruth (Sherman) Renaud, who both preceded him in death.
On Aug. 11, 1944, Don married June F. Garvin, who survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Jackie Isban and Karen Heintzelman of South Bend, and Kathy Cleaver of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Kathy Kronewitter of Andover, Maine, David Isban, Eric, Paul, Joe, Monica, Sarah and Mike Heintzelman of South Bend, Kim Cleaver of Bloomington, Ind., and Christy Cleaver of Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Bethany Kronewitter of Andover; and by two sisters, Marge Witte of Sparks, Nev., and Maureen Andrukonis of East Dennis, Mass.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, 1942 to 1946. He attended Barnes Business School in Denver, Colo., and worked at Bendix from 1948 to 1986. Don lived in South Bend for 51 years coming from Denver in 1947. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the People of Praise.
Don loved his family, gardening and going out to lunch, especially at the Olive Garden Restaurant. He enjoyed listening to big band music, sports and good old-fashioned movies. Don was a very hard worker and will be remembered for being willing to serve anyone who needed it.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1520 Vassar Avenue. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the church and burial will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
