Jewel M. (Tyring) Reitz, 88, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of East Wayne Street, South Bend, Ind., died on Sunday evening, Oct. 31, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Jewel was born on March 15, 1911, in Lynnville, Ind., and had lived in South Bend most of her life before moving to Fort Wayne in August 1990. On Aug. 16, 1934, in Evansville, Ind., she married William A. Reitz, who died on Aug. 15, 1989. She is survived by three daughters, Jewel England of Claremont, Calif., Patricia Pecora of Bradford, Pa., and Rosemary Reitz of Fort Wayne; a son, William A. Reitz of Mentor, Ohio; and by eight grandchildren. Jewel was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society where she served as past president, Harvest House Circle of Mercy and the Christ Child Society.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where a Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County.
