SOUTH BEND - Mr. James Reed, 57, of
Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away
following a sudden illness on Friday, May 29, in Milwaukee. On
Oct. 24, 1940, in Hayti, Miss., he was born to the union of John
and Laura (Solomon) Reed. He was preceded in death by his
father, John Reed in 1976; his mother, Laura Reed in 1995; and by
a brother, Herbert Reed in 1977.
He is survived by five daughters, Jacqueline
Reed of South Bend, Janice Regina Reed of Kansas City, Mo.,
Crystal Reed of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Natachia Ann Reed and Melinda
Laura Reed, both of Anderson, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; five
sisters, Dorothy E. Reeves of Chicago, Ill., Regina Reed-Phillips
of Grand Prairie, Texas, Parthenia Reed, Joanne Reed-Donaldson
and Deborah Reed-Johnson, all of South Bend; three
brothers, Robert Reed and Terry Reed of South Bend, and John Reed
of Mission Hills, Calif.; along with a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
James served his country in the United
States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. Shortly
thereafter he relocated to New York and was employed as a United
States postal worker. He later worked for the New York Transit
Company. He moved to Milwaukee in 1988 and was employed by the
Badger Advertising Company until the time of his death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Saturday at Alford's Mortuary. Interment will follow in Highland
Cemetery.
