Baptist Pastor,
Rev. Reed
dies at 65
Rev.
Charles A. REED, 65, senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church for the past 20
years, died of natural causes at 9:43 a.m. Thursday in Staughton (Wis.)
Hospital.
Rev. Reed,
of 52944 Camilia Drive, was ordained a Baptist minister in 1951 in Adiran,
Minn.
From
1962-66 he served as director of Christian Education and music at Calvary
Baptist Church. He was a board member of Cystic Fibrosis Associate. He was
a graduate of Northwestern College, Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born
August 25, 1928 in St. Paul, Minn., and lived in South Bend since 1962. On
August 7, 1949 he married Jane MULDER. She survives with a daughter, Charlene R.
TRERICE of Lewistown, Pa.; two sons, Rodger A., of Clarkston, Michigan and James
M. of South Bend; six grandchildren; his mother, Edythe Reed of South Bend; and
two sisters, Phyllis LINDER of Moline, Ill. and Cheryl GAZZARARI of Waterford,
Mich.
A son,
Charles A. III, died in 1985.
Services
will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m.
Sunday in the church. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.
