SOUTH BEND - Thomas William Reaves, 81, a lifelong resident of
South Bend, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at
Hospice House. He was born December 26, 1928 in Mishawaka, IN,
the son of Donald & Helen (Goss) Reaves, and was a graduate
of Woodrow Wilson High School. He retired as Vice President of
Reaves & Sons, Inc., a moving and storage company in South
Bend, and also retired as a courier from Towne Air Freight after
18 years of service, and three years with the former St. Joseph
Capital Bank. Mr. Reaves was a fifty eight year member of St.
Joseph Lodge # 45, F. & AM, and was a lifelong avid Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife Julia of sixty years. Also surviving
are two sons, Mark (Kimberly) Reaves, Bruce (Jan) Reaves, all of
South Bend, four grandchildren, Jeremy (Allison Frame) Reaves of
Mishawaka, Katie Reaves of South Bend, William Reaves of Los
Angeles, CA, Joseph Reaves of South Bend, and two
great-grandsons, Brayden and Ryland Reaves both of Mishawaka. He
is also survived by his brother, James G. Reaves of South Bend,
sister-in-law, Ramona Reaves of South Bend, and extended family,
Tamara (Phillip) Young of Niles, MI, David (Carol) Talboom of
South Bend, Susan (George) Whiting of Sebring, FL, and Jeanine
(James) Luczyk of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers, D. Wayne & Marvin D. Reaves.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the
Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street,
South Bend. Rev. Loren VanOrt will officiate. He will be buried
beside his parents, at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer Funeral
Home-Guisinger Chapel. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Mr.
