Edward I Reasor

October 19, 1912 – May 29, 1985

 

Edward Irvin Reasor, 72, of 1932 Brookmede Drive, died at 3:55am today in Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 19, 1912, in South Bend, and lived here until 1945 when he moved to Oak Park IL, returning to South Bend in 1975.  Mr. Reasor retired in 1974 as an art supervisor in Park Ridge IL, where he was employed from 1951.  In 1939, he was an art teacher at Washington High School, taught at Adams High School from 1940-1945, and then at River Forest High School, Oak Park IL, until 1947.  For the following four years, he served as art instructor at Indiana State University, Terre Haute.

 

Surviving are three sisters, Marjorie Jackson and Ruth Van Meter, both of South Bend and Agnes Olmstead of Atlanta GA; and two brothers, Arthur 7 Richard, both of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 11am Saturday in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may cal from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Friday in the funeral home.  He was a member of Kappa Pi National Art Honorary Fraternity, a co-founder of Indiana Art Education Association and a council member of the Western Arts Association.  Reasor was a 1939 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree in education and in 1944 earned his masters of art degree from Columbia University, where he served as an assistant in the fine arts department.
