MRS. REAM DIES

AT THE AGE OF 86

                Mrs. Margret J. Ream, age 86, widow of Charles Ream, colonel of the 29th Indiana infantry during the closing days of the civil war, died Saturday evening at 8:30 o’clock in the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Francis L. Alward, Chain O’Lakes road.

                Mrs. Ream was born April 19, 1845 on the South Michigan street road, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bowman Haney, who migrated here from Ohio.  Her father was a cabinet maker.  For many years after her marriage to Mr. Ream, Nov. 8, 1866, she resided at 1522 South Michigan street, directly across the street from her birthplace.  She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church virtually all her life and a charter member of Grace Methodist congregation.

                Surviving besides Mrs. Alward are two other daughters, Mrs. Rose Huse of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Fannie Townsend of Huntington Park, Calif., and 11 grandchildren.  Five sisters and brothers, Mrs. Eliza Violet, Mrs. Matilda Baer, Mrs. Rose Rohrer and John and Alfred Haney preceded her in death.

                The body may be viewed in the Forest G. Hay funeral home.
