SOUTH BEND - Robert E. Rathwick, 74, peacefully passed
away at 4:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in his residence surrounded
by his family. On May 17, 1933, Robert was born in South Bend to
Francis and Genevieve (Rydzinski) Rathwick.
On May 23, 1953, Robert married Genevieve Mroczkiewicz
in Indianapolis. He worked as purchasing agent at Clark Equipment
Company, retiring in 1992 after 27 years. Robert is survived by
his wife, Genevieve; a daughter, Diane (Mark) Beasley of
South Bend; a son, Thomas (Susan) Rathwick of South Bend;
grandchildren, Scott and Mary Przybylski, Deaven, Nicholas and
Isaac Rathwick; step-grandchildren, Adam and Evan Buford.
Preceding Robert in death was a grandson, Bryan Przybylski,
and sisters, Rosalie Rathwick and Jacqueline Bright.
Robert was a member of St. John the Baptist
Church, American Legion Post #357 First Vice, Bowlers Country
Club, ZB Falcons Nest 80, and MADD - Mothers Against Drunk
Driving. He also volunteered in several activities in his
lifetime, Holy Family Grade School Girls Volleyball coach, Warren
Township Little League coach, ZB Falcons Nest 80 Junior Bowling
coach, Washington High School Boys bowling coach, co-chair
Westside Memorial Day Parade, speaker at Bryan's Legacy Victim
Impact Panel. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the
Korean War.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, Feb. 7, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in St. John
the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery,
South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice &
Palliative Care, Inc, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637;
or to the Bryan Przybylski Memorial Honor Scholarship Fund, c/o
Diane Beasley.
