SOUTH BEND - Carmella Simeri Rappelli, 87, of Peashway
Street, South Bend, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2006.
She was born on March 10, 1919, in Gioiosa Jonica, Reggio
Calabria, Italy, to the late Louis and Rose Simeri. She
emigrated to the United States in 1929.
On November 22, 1941, in South Bend, she married Louis Rappelli,
who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a
son, Dominic Rappelli. Carmella was the co-owner, along with her
husband, of Louie's Restaurant in South Bend. Carmella was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and businesswoman.
She is survived by her son, John Rappelli; daughters, Leona
Rappelli and Rosemary R. Mandrici of South Bend; brother,
Joseph (Mary) Simeri of Mishawaka; and sisters, Giulia (Rocco) Ameduri
and Natalie (Anthony) Ruscio, both of South Bend. She is
also survived by her only grandchild, Alexander Louis Mandrici of
South Bend, whom she loved very much.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, December 28th, in the
McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend,
where the Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be on Friday, December 29th, at noon in St. Joseph
Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland
Cemetery.
