Robert Rankin, 86, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Saturday evening, Jan. 20, in his residence in Florida. He was born on Dec. 22, 1914, in Stevenson, Scotland, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Gaw) Rankin.

On Sept. 8, 1941, in South Bend, he married the former Mardell C. Vance, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Sue Ellen Rankin of Marietta, Ga.; a son, Robert V. Rankin of Bradenton; a sister, Rita Jones of South Bend; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rankin retired from the Ward Baking Company in South Bend. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in South Bend and Bradenton, Fla., Masonic Lodge #130 Mishawaka F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Daniel Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 521 N. William Street. Contributions in Mr. Rankin's memory may be made to the church.
