Mrs. Florence E. Rakestraw, 72, of 915 Miner St., died at 8 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1894, in North Liberty.

She had lived in South Bend 47 years, coming from North Liberty.

She was married on June 1, 1920, in South Bend to David A. Rakestraw, who died in 1959. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray VanHaverbeke, of Mishawaka.

Friends may call in the Orvis Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Services will be held there at 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. C. Emory Burton, associate pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which she was a member, officiating.

Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
