Betty J. Rainey, 67, of Brummitt Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away Tuesday, April 23, in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on Dec. 20, 1934, in Hardinsburg, Ind., to the late Wilbur and Ozaline (Saltz) Allis, and had lived in South Bend for the past eight years, coming from Addison, Ill. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Stella Jeanette Moss; and by a brother, Leonard Daniel Allis.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Ray) Hernandez of South Bend; grandchildren, Michelle L. (James) Latson of Niles, Mich., Donald A. (Jessica) Burgett of South Bend and Lisa A. Hernandez of Mishawaka, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Brooke, D.J., Alyssa, Caitlyn, Breah, Tanasia and Tresean; sisters, Myrtle Rainey of Stanford, Ind., and Mable (Robert ) Collins of Offut, Ky.; and by a brother, Paul (Bonnie) Allis of Indianapolis, Ind.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Lester Jenkins Funeral Home, Bloomfield, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Lester Jenkins Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hardinsburg Cemetery, Hardinsburg, Ind.
