James F. Quigley, 86, of Miami Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital in South Bend. Jim was born May 20, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., to Charles and Irene Dorion Quigley. In January 1941 he married Blanche Irene Cranston, who passed away in 1991.
In 1956 the Quigleys moved from Bay City, Mich., to Toledo, Ohio, and in 1968 moved to South Bend. Jim worked in the accounting department for the AM General Corporation, retiring in 1982. Jim is survived by sons, James Cranston "Cran" Quigley of Davenport, Iowa, Bruce M. Quigley of Seville, Spain, and Thomas D. Quigley of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by longtime friend and companion, Patric J. Stacey. He also leaves grandchildren, Richard Hansen, Karen Mount, Paul and Stuart Quigley, Daniel and Edward Quigley, and Andrea and Rachel Quigley; as well as five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 31, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind. Deacon Joseph A. Issel of the Cathedral Church of St. James will officiate over funeral services at the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery. The Quigley family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
