Sister M. Josephus CSC, 80, of Saint
Marys Convent, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday in the convent
following a lengthy illness. Born Mary McGuran Purman on
May 25, 1901 in Waynesburg, Pa., she was received as a novice at
St. Marys in 1921 and was granted her profession on Aug.
15, 1923. She was a music teacher assigned to teach in schools in
Elkhart, Chicago and Chatsworth, Ill. She spent much of her
religious life working in California.
Services will be at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of
Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St.
Marys. Friends may call until the time of services at St.
Marys Convent Parlors where a wake service will be held at
7 p.m. today.
