MISHAWAKA - Justin Louis (Judd) Probst passed away on January 25,
2008, after valiantly fighting cancer. He was the last
surviving child of William F. and Mary Louise Conklin Probst.
He is preceded in death by Brothers, John, Thomas and his
twin, Joseph; as well as; sisters Rita, Catherine (Kay) Eberhardt
and Barbara Geraldine (Jeri) Leon (wife of Dr. Sergio Leon,
Curacao, NA). He is survived by his loving wife of sixty
years, Harriet Agnes Arnold Probst; his daughter, Martha Jo
Probst Moynahan and her husband, Roger; and his grandchild, Emily
Anne Moynahan. Justin was born in Jackson Michigan, but
his family moved to South Bend and later to Mishawaka
Indiana. He was a 1942 graduate of Mishawaka High School
and later attended Indiana University to study Business
Administration. He served his country as a member of the
Army's 787 Artillery Battery seeing action in the European
Theater of World War II, where he participated in several major
battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded
while seeing action. His winning personality made him
numerous friends throughout his life including the health care
professionals who took care of him during his final days.
He was employed for many years as a department manager at Sears,
Roebuck. He later became one of the three owners of
Alexanian Brothers Carpet Company. After retiring from his
own business, Judd joined Deco Art of Elkhart to lead their sales
efforts for many years. Known for his love of boating,
waterskiing, horseback riding, and working on his farm tractor;
Judd enjoyed his summers at Garver Lake in Edwardsburg. He
truly enjoyed sitting in the Florida sun and going to the Beach
during his retirement. Judd made friends whether he was at
the Elks, Moose, VFW, American Legion or just sitting on the
bumper of his car during a shopping excursion. He had a
deep love for his friends and family and was blessed by numerous
nieces and nephews who returned his love. He never met a
stranger and will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, an
impish grin and for telling a good story. Friends may call
