Edmund J. Probst
March 20, 1928 - July 16, 2001
SOUTH BEND, IN Mr. Edmund J. Probst, 73, of Ebeling Drive, passed away of natural causes at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Probst was born on March 20, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Dr. Edmund A. and Frances Mae (Knowles) Probst. On April 11, 1959, he married Gisella (Csenar) Probst, who survives of South Bend. He retired in 1983 as a systems analyst after 23 years of service at the Bendix Corporation.
He is also survived by a daughter, Anne (Peter M.) Maginot; a stepson, Peter G. Maginot, both of Des Perres, Mo.; two sisters, Cynthia (Tom) Haggerty and Mary Gail Probst, both of Turnersville, N.J.; and two brothers, John Knowles of Quincy, Calif., and Joseph Henry (Barbara) Probst of Three Rivers, Mich.
The celebration of the Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend. Private burial will be later that day in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, where there will be a parish Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
Edmund belonged to St. Joseph Parish, Mensa, South Bend Area Genealogical Society, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, and was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
