Katherine I. Priddy, 88, of South Bend,
Ind., died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in St. Joseph's Medical
Center, following an illness. Mrs. Priddy retired in 1987 after
20 years as secretary to the Bishop of the Northern Indiana
Diocese of the Episcopal Church. She was a member of Faith United
Methodist Church, was a former member of the Morris Park Country
Club, and was a graduate of the former Central High School. Mrs.
Priddy was born June 16, 1908, in South Bend and was a lifelong
area resident.
On Aug. 3, 1929, in South Bend, she married
Carl C. Priddy, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1965. She
is survived by two daughters, Janet E. Maxwell of Lillian, Ala.,
and Nancy J. Priddy of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Thomas C.
Priddy of Naperville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Katherine
Stewart, Kenneth Priddy, Kari Adams and Christina Applegate; four
great-grandchildren, Emily and Kevin Stewart and Kadie and
Samantha Priddy; two sisters, Mary Carlson and Betty Dutour, both
of Hazelcrest, Ill.; and two brothers, Robert Driggs of Port
Richey, Fla. and Richard Priddy of New Port Richey, Fla.; and her
best friend, Jane Callan of South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with
Rev. Donald L. Shanks of Faith United Methodist Church
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United
Methodist Church.
