Margaret Marie (Harris) Prickett, 94,
of Linden Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Feb.
14, in Hope Hospice House, Cape Coral, Fla. She was born in
Mishawaka on Feb. 26, 1908, and was a lifetime area resident.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Myrtle
Mae (Jones) Harris; and by her four brothers, Clarence,
Clifford, Frank and Edward.
She married Ward Delwin Prickett in Van
Wert, Ohio, on Aug. 29, 1929. Mr. Prickett died on June 27, 1955.
Mrs. Prickett is survived by her daughters, Carolyn P. (Phillip) Gutman
of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Joyce P. Coppens of Fort Myers, Fla.,
and Marilyn P. (Alan) Womersley of Mishawaka; seven
grandchildren, Phillip Edward (Laura) Gutman Jr., Gretchen Kay
Gutman, Kurt Alan (Carrie) Gutman, Randal Ward (Gail) Coppens,
Ryan Keith Coppens, Edward Charles (Laura) Ellsasser and
Richard Harris Ellsasser; seven great-grandchildren, Jaclyn
Elizabeth Gutman, Phillip Edward Gutman III, Andrew David Gutman,
Kathryn Margaret Gutman, Emily Elizabeth Gutman, David Joseph
Gutman and Austin Charles Ellsasser; and by two
step-grandchildren, Ryan Steven Yoho and Evan Lincoln
Coppens. There are also two nieces, Dorothy Harris of
Florida and Beverly Harris of Michigan; and three nephews, Jack
Harris of Florida, Frank Harris of South Bend and Bob Harris of
Nevada.
Maggie, as she was affectionately known, was
a four-term mayor of Mishawaka. She was a member of Kiwanis, the
Chamber of Commerce and First United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held in First
United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, with Rev.
Lorin Clemenz officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to
First United Methodist Church or to Shiojiri Japanese Gardens
Park. All friends are invited to join the family in the
Fellowship Hall at the First United Methodist Church following
the service on Thursday.
