SOUTH BEND - Ruby I. Porter, 95,
formerly of Primrose Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:40 p.m. on
Wednesday, March 11, at the Fountainview Nursing Home, Mishawaka,
Ind. Ruby was born in South Bend on Dec. 7, 1902, the daughter of
the late William A. Korn and Ida Diehl Korn. On Jan. 28,
1922, she married Earl R. Porter, who preceded her in death on
Dec. 8, 1954. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert
Korn. Mrs. Porter is survived by four children and their spouses,
Doris E. (William) King, Irene N. (James) Houchin,
Lee N. (Maria) Porter and Floyd W. (Paula) Porter, all of South
Bend; six grandchildren, Sandra L. Tiffany, Nikki S. Porter and
Greg Porter, all of South Bend, Todd E. Porter of Michigan City,
Ind., Barbara J. Kujawski of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Shari
I. Wagner of Dayton, Ohio; two step- grandsons, Marc Simon of
Bowling Green, Ohio, and J.P. Simon of Indonesia; 12
great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a
sister-in-law, Alice Porter; and by a special nephew, Dean
A. Korn of Mishawaka. Mrs. Porter was formerly a member of the
Lydick Ladies Aid, particularly active in their Cancer Bandage
Program, and was a former member of the Sunshine Home Economics
Club.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 16, at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, in the funeral home. Rev. Kevin A. Buckley of the Lydick United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend.
