SOUTH BEND - Mary S. Porte, 76, of
Indiana 23, died at 7:48 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after an
illness. Mrs. Porte worked at the former Ball Band as an
assembler and retired from Bendix Products Corp. She was born
Dec. 8, 1919, in Poland and was a South Bend resident for 72
years.
She married Robert Gene Porte, who preceded
her in death. Surviving are a son, Donald W. of Marinette, Wis.;
five sisters, Irene Kaplon of New Carlisle, Stella Zultanski
and Caroline Voosi, both of South Bend, Josephine Sutek
of Peshtito, Wis., and Veronica Pitlak of Orlando,
Fla.; and a brother, William C. Stempin of South Bend. She
was a member of First Brethren Church; Bendix Local No. 9, United
Auto Workers; Bendix Retirees Club; and Chapter 6, Disabled
American Veterans.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the
church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Guisinger Colonial
Chapel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.
