June 10, 1916 - March 31, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Mary Popowzak, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March
31, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Mary
was born in Austria on June 10, 1916. In 1945, as the former Mary
Juschak, she married Peter Popowzak in Munich, Germany, who
passed away in January 1991. Surviving are four children, Maria
(Robert) Berger of South Bend, Helen (Dallas) Ummel of Leesburg,
IN, Caroline (Keith) Chrisman of Haslet, MI, and Gene Popowzak of
Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Robert, James and Todd Berger,
Erin Stammich, Angela and Rodney Lutes, Jessica, Michael and Ryan
Chrisman; and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Cassee Berger.
Mary was a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Bremen
and the Widow's support group. She was a very caring person,
always putting family first. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held on Monday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour
prior in St. Matthew Catholic Cathedral, with Monsignor Michael
Heintz officiating. Burial will take place at Bremen Cemetery,
Bremen, IN. She will be laid to rest next to her husband.
