Martha D. Popielski, 83, formerly of South Carlisle Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, in the Bremen Heath Care Center, Bremen, Ind. She was born on Feb. 7, 1916, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Popielski was a former employee of Uniroyal.

On Oct. 26, 1935, in South Bend, as Martha Radziwill, she married Roman Popielski, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Drapinski, and a brother, Ignatius Radziwill. She is survived by a daughter, Delores (Raymond) Stout of South Bend; two sons, Ray Popielski and John (Marie) Popielski, both of South Bend; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Rumpf, James Stout, John Stout, Jeff Stout, Tina Jenkins, Peggy Jankowski, Mark Popielski, Aaron Popielski, Michael Popielski, Ronald Popielski, Steve Popielski and David Popielski; 17 great-grandchildren and a step great-grandchild; and by a sister, Mary Van Acker of South Bend.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home, with burial to follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 425 N.
