James Poole

SOUTH BEND - James Poole, 70, of 512 N. Francis St., died at 3:40 a.m. Monday in Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center, Elkhart, after an illness. Mr. Poole was a former employee of AM General Corp. He was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Aberdeen, Miss., and had lived in South Bend since 1940, coming from Aberdeen.

He is survived by his mother, Gertrude of Aberdeen; six sisters, Alice Kerr of Chicago, Helen Mitchem, and Geraldine Forshee, all of South Bend, Ora B. McNary, Nancy, and Aurdia Griffin, all of Chicago; and three brothers, Lee E. of Chicago, Billie C. of Fort Wayne, and Willie T. of Aberdeen. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9733 and a veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Clark's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
