Brother Fidelis Pommier CSC, 76, of Columba Hall, Notre Dame, died about midnight Thursday of an apparent heart attack in Dujarie House Infirmary, where he had been a patient since May. He was a teacher, since 1924 having been a member of the faculties at Holy Cross High School in New Orleans; Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne; Cathedral High School in Indianapolis; Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton, Mass.; Vincential Institute in Albany, NY; Catholic Central High School in Monroe, Mich.; and St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, before returning to Notre Dame in 1972. Born on June 4, 1899 in St. Anne, Ill., he entered the Congregation of the Brothers of Holy Cross in 1917. He received the habit March 19, 1918; made his first profession of vows on June 17, 1920; and his final profession of vows on June 28, 1923. He held a bachelors and masters degrees from Notre Dame. Survivors include a sister, Sister M. Fidelus of Mercy Hospital, Urbana, Ill.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of St. Joseph at the Brothers Center on the campus of Holy Cross Junior College. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, also on the campus. Friends may call in the chapel after 3 p.m. Saturday where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
