Edward J. Polcyn, 80, of Douglas
Road, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 14th,
in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
Edward was born on March 8, 1921, in South Bend, to John and
Betty (Bradley) Polcyn, both of whom preceded him in
death.
On Aug. 25, 1945, in St. Matthew's
Cathedral, South Bend, Edward married Catherine E. Curtis.
Edward was a loving, kind, and faithful husband for 57 years. He
loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He liked football,
basketball, golf and bowling. He was a big Purdue fan. Edward
loved to sit in front of his television set and involve himself
in any sport that happened to be on. He would yell and cheer and
tell the referees what to do! He enjoyed going eating out in
local restaurants. Edward and his wife Kay ate many enjoyable
meals at Baker's Square in Mishawaka. A favorite waitress there
treated him and his wife like family. In his younger days, he
loved playing softball and was a pitcher on a local team. Edward
loved holidays with his family.
He served his country with honor in World
War II. He was a charter member of the Army & Navy Union
#291. Edward worked as an engineer for the South Bend Community
School Corporation for many years. He will always be remembered
as a kind, gentle, quiet man. In the past few years, he suffered
from many medical conditions. Through his pain he rarely
complained and always said he felt great.
Edward is survived by his loving wife,
Catherine; a niece, Kathy (George) Heyse; a sister-in-law,
Mary Stickler; four brothers-in-law, Alex A. Curtis,
Archie W. Rajski, Amis Curtis and Frank J. Nemeth.
Edward is also survived by dear friends, Terri (Robert) Krause,
Ann Chrithlow, and Louis and Betty Ferraro; along
with many other nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 18th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street,
Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at the funeral chapel
at 7 p.m. Monday evening, with Fr. Terry Fisher officiating. He
will be greatly missed by his wife, godchildren, nieces, nephews,
family members and friends. Edward did not die, he passed on from
earth and into the loving arms of Jesus Christ. His new residence
is Heaven, where he is rejoicing with loved ones who passed on
before him. Psalms 40:2 - "He lifted me out of despair,
out from the bog and mire and set my feet on a hard, firm path
and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to
sing, of praises to things He did for me, and I stand in awe
before the Lord, I put my trust in Him." Rest in peace
dear Edward, your family and friends will miss you very much. You
are loved!
