Mildred K. Piser, 87, of North 200
East Drive, LaPorte, Ind., died on Sunday, Dec. 17, in Porter
Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, Ind. She was born in Chicago,
Ill., on April 15, 1913, to the late Albert and Ida (Heckman)
Kessel. On Aug. 18, 1934, in Crown Point, Ind., she
married Benjamin Charles Piser, who died on Feb. 7, 1972. For
many years, Mildred was a self-employed entrepreneur of many
various businesses throughout the country. She is survived by a
daughter, Judith Piser Spiller of LaPorte; her son,
Jonathan H. Piser of Chicago; three grandchildren; and by three
brothers, Lawrence Kessel of Illinois, Harry Kessel of California
and Elton Kessel of Oregon.
Mildred was the class poet for St. Mary's
Academy, a graduate of St. Mary's College and the University of
Illinois, was a member of Temple Beth-El, and was a seasoned
world traveler.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the chapel of the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka, Ind. Burial will follow, with Rabbi Morley Feinstein officiating. There will be no visitation. The FOREST G. HAY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of her arrangements.
