Sabina T. Pilger, 84, of the Ironwood
Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 2122 South Arnold
Street, passed away at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, in
Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pilger retired from Koszegi Products. She
was born on Sept. 19, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., to Steve and Rose
Stoyko.
On Aug. 24, 1940, in South Bend, Ind., as
Sabina Stoyko, she married Frank W. Pilger, who died on
Nov. 18, 1978. Sabina was also preceded in death by a sister,
Mitzi Bender; a brother, Steve Stoyko; and by a
great-granddaughter, Ashley Riffel. She is survived by a
son, Martin (Susan) Horvat of South Bend; five
grandchildren, John Riffel, Jeff Riffel, Jim Riffel, Kirk Riffel
and Mary Orr; two great-grandchildren, Celia Riffel and
Derrick Riffel; a brother, Frank Stoyko of South Bend; and by two
nieces, Rosemary Bender and Donna Bender. Mrs. Pilger was
a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, the St. Ann Society, the
Sacred Heart and Rosary Society, and the Harvest House.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11
a.m. on Saturday, April 22, in the ZAHORAN FUNERAL HOME, 1826 S.
Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends
and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home,
where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Hungary Church
Repair Fund.
