Ruby L. Pierce

Sept. 9, 1911 - July 4, 2001

Ruby L. Pierce, 89, of Wheatstone Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died Wednesday morning in Regency Place of South Bend, Ind.

Ruby was born on September 9, 1911, in Hart, Mich., to John and Hazel (Elwell) Althouse. As Ruby Althouse she married Claude E. "Dutch" Pierce on February 9, 1929. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1987.

Ruby is survived by four daughters, Beverly Sult, Nancy (Louis) Vida, and Pat (Joe) Laskowski, all of South Bend and Carolyn (Ronald) Perras of Port Richey, Fla.; and three sons, Claude "Jack" (Evelyn) Pierce of South Bend, John Pierce in Texas and Leo (Yvonne) Pierce of Walkerton, Ind. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Her sister Margaret Cronin of Mishawaka and her brother, Harold (Helen) Althouse of South Bend also survives. Ruby was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Vida.

Funeral services for Ruby L. Pierce will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 7, 2001, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Officiating will be Ruby's grandson, the Rev. Rich Laskowski. Burial will then take place in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation for Ruby was held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
