Feb. 22, 1907 - Aug. 6, 1997

Helen D. Piechowicz, 90, of the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, formerly of Bertrand Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the nursing home.

Mrs. Piechowicz was born on Feb. 22, 1907, in New Carlisle, Ind., and had been a lifelong area resident. She was employed as the head bookkeeper with the St. Joseph County Auditor for 20 years.

On Sept. 29, 1934, as Helen D. Nowak, she married John J. Piechowicz, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1956.

She is survived by her son, Jack of South Bend; two grandchildren, John Piechowicz and Paula Zawacki, both of South Bend; and five great-grandchildren, Brenda, Randy, Brandon, Samantha and Angel.

Mrs. Piechowicz was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary of the church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
