Margaret M. Phillips

Margaret M. Phillips, 94, of Roosevelt Road, formerly of Kemble Avenue, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community.
Mrs. Phillips was employed by the University of Notre Dame and Ball Band. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its St. Anne Society and the Daughters of Isabella.
Margaret was born on Feb. 23, 1907, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Morris and Anna Biesbrouck. On July 21, 1934, in Mishawaka, she married Roy Phillips, who died on Oct. 6, 1963. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Rothy and Bernice Lightner; and by a brother, Francis Biesbrouck.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcia A. (Kenneth) Matthys of South Bend; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Donald) Roeder, Kristin (Jason) Roeder, Todd (Mary) Matthys, Ryan Matthys and Angela Matthys; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Madalyn, Molly and Allison; and by a brother, Edward J. (Anna Marie) Biesbroeck of Mishawaka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. by the St. Anne Society.
