MISHAWAKA - Patric E. "Pat" Phend, 66, died of natural causes at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, June 15th, in Hospice House of South Bend. He was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Lamar E. and Eudee (Wellington) Phend. He was a fireman for 22 years for the Osceola Fire Department. He formerly owned the O.C. EMS in Osceola for 14 years. He was a former member of the American Legion and the Elkhart Moose Lodge in Elkhart. He was an avid racing fan who had formerly raced cars himself. He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar E. Phend, in November 1981.

Survivors include his mother, Eudee "Gadman" (Wellington) Phend of Osceola; daughters, Lisa Burzloff of Mishawaka, Kim Phend of Goshen and Tracy (Mitch) DeWitt of Elkhart; sons, Jeff Phend and Scott Phend, both of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Senietta "Sunny" Porter of Morrison, IL, and Melodie "Cookie" (Serg) Holowko of Mishawaka; and a brother, Eric (Bonnie) Phend of Morrison, IL. A memorial celebration of Pat's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th, in the Baugo Township Fire Department, 69156 County Road 2, Elkhart. Clyde Graves Jr., chaplain for the Osceola Fire Department and Crosspath Ministries, will be officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Baugo Township Fire Dept. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice House of South Bend, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Elkhart Cremation Services, Elkhart, is handling arrangements.
