NORTH LIBERTY - Stuart Donald
"Don" Phelps, 64, of North Liberty, IN, succumbed
to a lifetime battle with diabetes Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at
Memorial Hospital. Don was born on May 26, 1943, in Dowagiac, MI,
to the late Stanley and Dorthea (Dilley) Phelps. He lived
in the South Bend area most of his life.
On September 29, 1979 he married Trudi (Enyart),
who survives to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by
his sister, Patty. Loving family members who survive include his
step-son, John Jerzykowski of Casper, WY and a
step-daughter, Robbee Center of Niles, MI; a sister Vicki Petrella
of Narvon, PA; a brother, Stanley Phelps of South Bend;
grandchildren, John, Ashley and Troy Jerzykowski and Kyle and
Shannon Center; and nephews Brian and Michael Petrella. Don
served his country in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Naval Corp
attached to the Marine Corp as a medic. He worked for over 30
years at I & M Electric (AEP). He enjoyed fishing, traveling
and sharing his humor with family and friends. Don will be dearly
missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be at the Kaniewski Funeral
Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, from 1 to 4 p.m. on
Sunday, February 24, 2008. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County, 6910 North Main
