SOUTH BEND - Sharon Peterson, 65, of South Bend, passed
away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend,
IN. She had retired from I.U.S.B. on Sept. 30, 2008, after 30
years of service. Sharon was born on May 30, 1943, in South Bend,
IN, to Steve J. and Martha A. (VanDeWalle) Horvath,
and was a lifelong resident. Sharon is survived by her mother,
Martha A. Horvath of South Bend; one son, Luther T.
"Pete" (Kathy) Peterson of North Liberty; one daughter,
Angela (George) Fisher of Mishawaka; dear friend, Tom
Pascoe of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Justin,
April and Chad (Erica); five great-grandchildren, Kain, Rayden,
Sierra, Dameon and Bryson; her sister, Patti (John) Susil
of Elkhart; and two brothers, Michael (Sandi) Horvath of Granger
and Steve (Barb) Horvath of North Liberty. Her father, Steve J.
Horvath, preceded her in death in 2007. Sharon was a member of
Parents Without Partners for many years, which she served as
president and vice president for many of those years. She loved
spending time with her family and friends, creating miniatures,
scrapbooking, camping, fishing and traveling. Sharon was a pillar
of strength to everyone around her. She was a wonderful lady who
will be missed deeply. Sharon had a special way of touching your
heart.
Memorial services will be at 7 PM Monday, Nov. 24th, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4 PM until time of services on Monday in the funeral home.
