Nelson ''Hap'' Peterson, 85, of S.
Ironwood Dr., South Bend, Ind., passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, in
St. Paul's Retirement Center. Mr. Peterson was a former of
resident the Lydick and Crumstown areas. Mr. Peterson was born
Feb. 8, 1911, in Lydick, Ind. He was employed by and was also
president of the board of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, and was a
retired farmer and school bus driver.
On Feb. 1, 1941 in South Bend, he married
Anna K. Beckelandt, who survives. He is also survived by
four sons, David Peterson, of Shipshewana, Ind., Gordon Peterson
of South Bend, Gilbert Peterson of New Carlisle, Ind., and Wesley
Peterson of Demotte, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; six great
granchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Peterson of Niles, Mich. Two
great grandchildren preceded him in death. Mr. Peterson was
a member of the Lions Club of Lydick, Ind.; former Lydick
volunteer fireman for over 30 years; and member of Lydick United
Methodist Church for over 80 years.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. Services
will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lydick United Methodist Church,
with the Rev. Kevin Buckley officiating. Burial will follow at
Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
Lydick United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice.
