MISHAWAKA - Frank E. Person, 86, died Wednesday evening, January 10, in his home, and went to be with his Savior.

Frank was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, on August 15, 1920 to Frank M. and Jennie (Selner) Person, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him are his siblings, Marjorie, Ilene, Leota and Carson.

On September 1, 1945, in Mishawaka, Indiana, he married Colleen R. Hoffman, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2004.

He is survived by a son, Gary (Linda) Person of Mishawaka; a daughter Carol (Ted) Collins-Hope of New Carlisle; four grandchildren, David, Bethany, Jonathan and Jenny; a step-grandson Eric; and three and a half great-grandchildren, Colin, Isaiah and Isabelle. He also has five “adopted” grandchildren, John, Brian, Julia, Kathy and Maria.

Frank attended Grace Bible Chapel, where he was a faithful elder there.

Frank worked at Ball Band before and after World War II. He proudly served his country in the Army/Air Force, in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from Ball Band after many years.

He loved hunting, fishing and canoeing. Frank loved to tell about his Indian childhood and World War II stories. He was proud of his Indian heritage and loved his Pokagan-Potawatomi family, along with his own extended family and friends. He will be terribly missed. We love you, Daddy!

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday January 12, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., where services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, led by David Detrick. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
