Betty L. Perri, 77, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away early Sunday morning, Nov. 16, in Countryside Nursing Center, Mishawaka.
She was born June 19, 1926, in Wakarusa, Ind., to Merl and Beulah Hoover. Betty grew up in the Wakarusa area and graduated from Madison High School.
She became a registered nurse, graduating from St. Joseph Hospital Nurses Training in Mishawaka.
On Sept. 23, 1950, Betty married Charles "Charlie" R. Perri and they made their home in Mishawaka. For 20 years she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, and then 15 years for the St. Joseph County Health Department. Betty also assisted her husband at the family business, Charlie's Packaged Liquor Store.
She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the BK Club, the Moose Lodge in Elkhart, Ind., and the Women's Democratic Club. Betty enjoyed working in her yard, and was very devoted to her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and by two brothers, Neil and Stanley Hoover.
Betty's surviving family includes a daughter, Diane C. (James) Horvath of Mishawaka; a son, Carl R. Perri of Mishawaka; a sister, Rebecca Sue Hoover of Georgia; two grandsons, Alan M. Love and Chad J. Love; and a great-grandson, Bryce Love.
Friends may spend time with Betty's family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. Seventh St., Mishawaka, with Rev. Father Barry England officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of St. Joseph County. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
