Waylan Dewayne Perkins, 21, of West
Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:45 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997. He was born on May 21, 1975, in Chicago,
Ill., to Beverly Perkins and Everett Monson. Coming from
Chicago, he moved to South Bend in 1983. He attended Ivy Tech
University, and was a former member of Mount Pisgah Missionary
Baptist Church in Chicago.
Leaving to cherish his memory are a
daughter, Taji Perkins; his mother and stepfather, Beverly and
Jonathan Esters, Sr., all of South Bend; his father,
Everett Monson of Forrest City, Ark.; one sister, Lorraine
Perkins; one brother, Jonathan Esters, Jr.; a maternal
grandmother, Lorraine Perkins, and paternal grandfather, Jack
Esters, all of South Bend; two aunts, Anna Gavin and
Delores Spencer; four uncles, Ricky Perkins, Wesley
Perkins, Greg Perkins and Charles Perkins, all of Chicago; a
special friend, Crystal Easton of South Bend; and a host
of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandfather, Wesley Perkins; paternal grandmother, Dorothy
Esters; one aunt, Ruth Wilkerson; and two uncles, Douglas
Perkins and Richard Perkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Friday at Alford's Mortuary with burial following at Riverview
Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the
mortuary.
Alford's Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
