Mrs. Ruth Perkins, 87, of West Kern
Road, South Bend, Ind., formerly of Roosevelt Road, South Bend,
passed away at 12:24 p.m. Saturday in Miller's Merry Manor
Nursing Home in Walkerton, Ind., after an extended illness. Ruth
was born on Jan. 25, 1915, in McLeansboro, Ill., and resided in
the Michiana area all her lifetime.
On April 7, 1934, in South Bend, as Ruth Smith,
she married Charles Edward Perkins, who passed away on Jan, 11,
1992. She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy M. (Norman) Beagles
of Walkerton, Carolyn R. (Richard) Wiley of
Noblesville, Ind., Sandi J. (Dennis) Grzeskowiak of
Plymouth, Ind.; and Jan I. (Richard) Nimtz of South Bend.
She was also survived by 12 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished. Ruth was a
loving, caring wife , mother and grandmother and will be deeply
missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
today, Nov. 19, in the Hanley and Sons "Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana
23, South Bend. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 20, in the funeral home, and burial will follow at Sumption
Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins was a former member of the
Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church. The family request that
all memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph
County. The HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral
Home handled arrangements and services and extend deepest
sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Perkins family.
