John Howard Perkins

John Howard Perkins, 86, of the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, passed away at 7:12 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, Ind. John had lived in Texas for over 42 years, and moved to the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community over three years ago due to failing health.

John was born in South Bend, Ind., on Aug. 19, 1914, to the late Chester A. and Blanche (Rupel) Perkins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Perkins on July 22, 1955.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Aileen Perkins Borough of South Bend; a nephew, Frederick S. Perkins, and a niece, Frances Whiddon, both of Fort Myers, Fla. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Contributions in memory of Mr. Perkins may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church.
