NORTH LIBERTY - Charles L. Perkins, 79, of Indiana 23, died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. Perkins was formerly employed by Hutchins Tool and Die and Elkhart Machine Products, retiring in 1994 from Capital Technologies after 11 years. He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

In July 1945, in South Bend, he married Nathalie D. Clark. She died Dec. 5, 1992. Surviving are a son, John W. of Walkerton; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivyenne Reed of Deming, N.M.; and two brothers, Donald E. Sr. and James, both of South Bend. He was a member of American Legion Post 50, National Audubon Society and First United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in in Crumstown Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in funeral home.
