Veronica (Tkach) Penzenik, 75, of
East Jefferson Boulevard, died early Tuesday morning, March 16,
in her home. Mrs. Penzenik and her husband founded The Penz
Company of Mishawaka in 1956 where she continued as an officer
with the company until her death. She was born on March 30, 1923,
in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Julia Tkach, who preceded
her in death.
On July 23, 1944, in Chicago, she married
Vladimir ''Wally'' Penzenik, who died on July 23, 1992. She was
also preceded in death by a son, Gregory J. Penzenik; and by a
grandson, Bryan Penzenik. She had lived in South Bend for over 50
years after coming from Chicago.She is survived by two sons,
David A. (Lori) Penzenik and Richard D. (Patricia) Penzenik, both
of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Adam, Christopher,
Alex, Julia, Douglas and Katherine; two great grandchildren,
Gregory and Bethany; and by a brother, George Tkach of Mishawaka.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today in
St. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, 59250 Keria Trail,
South Bend. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park in Granger, Ind.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday
and Thursday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where
a memorial service was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Mrs. Penzenik
was a member of the church, and also sponsored two children from
the Christian Children's Fund. Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc.
