13, 1953 - Dec. 3, 2008MISHAWAKA - Karen S. Penn, 55, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, in Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Karen was born on May 13, 1953, in South Bend, to Edward and Barbara (Suth) Wesolowski, and was a lifelong resident. On April 10, 1971, in Mishawaka, IN, she married Paul D. Penn, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tracy L. (Brian) McKenzie of Osceola, IN, and Jennifer R. (Jeffrey) Batten of Osceola, IN; four grandchildren, Athan, Eva, Emma and Abbigail; her mother, Barbara Wesolowski of Mishawaka, IN; and two brothers, Thomas E. Wesolowski of South Bend, IN, and Craig E. (Jean) Wesolowski of Elkhart, IN. Preceding her in death were a grandson, Aaron Batten, and her father, Edward Wesolowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008, in St. Pius X Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. Karen was a 1971 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was a member of St. Pius X Parish and was an "I Love Lucy" collector. Karen was a loving, caring person who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Church or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
