A. Tyndall Peltz, 85, of Evergreen Lane, died at 10:09 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 1996 in St. Joseph Care Center-West.
Mr. Peltz was born on Nov. 10, 1910, in South Bend and was a lifelong resident. He was the former owner-operator and piano tuner for the Peltz Music House on West LaSalle Street. Mr. Peltz retired in 1985 after 40 years of ownership. On June 21, 1941, in South Bend, he married Olga M. Cwiklinski who survives. Also surviving is a son, Bryan Peltz of Denver, Colo.
Mr. Peltz's parents, Isaac Tyndall Peltz and Ellen (Forsberg) Peltz; two sisters, Florence Geraldine Peltz-LeJeune and Helen Steele; and a brother, William Peltz, all preceded him in death. Mr. Peltz' paternal grandfather, Albert Peltz, was the former owner of Peltz Kauffman Wholesale Paper Company in South Bend.
A memorial service for A. Tyndall Peltz will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, Vicar James Link from the Faith Lutheran Church will officiate. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Indiana Center of the Blind or the Blind and Sighted Workers of St. Joseph County.
Mr. Peltz was the class of 1931 valedictorian at the Indiana School for the Blind in Indianapolis. He was also a past member of the South Bend Optimist Club and the Blind and Sighted Workers of St. Joseph County.
