Simon P Peffley
Simon P. Peffley, age 77, died at his home, 1116 West Colfax
avenue, at 1 o'clock this morning. He had been ill 10 weeks with
hardening of arteries. He served during the civil war with the
21st battery. Indiana field artillery, and was a member of Auten
post, No.8, G.A.R.
He is survived by three children, Mrs. F. Kingdon, Brantford,
Conn., Miss Charlotte Peffley and Mrs. Clara Birner, both of
South Bend, and the follow brothers; H.C. Peffley, New Carlisle,
Ind. Daniel and E.H. Peffley of this city. He was born at Dayton,
O., Oct.10, 1839. He has been an employe of the Singer
Manufacturing company for 43 years. The funeral will be held from
the residence at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. James L.
Gardine D.D., of St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal church
officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
