Eleanor G. Peffley, 100, of Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2006, in Hamilton Communities. Eleanor was born on June 9, 1905, in Walkerton, Indiana, to the late Hespert and Elizabeth (Cook) Gould, and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 3, 1925, as Eleanor G. Gould, she married Roland Peffley, who preceded her in death on May 20, 1985. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Rearick, Lillian Chappell, Elizabeth Fehr and Mary Shoemaker; and by two brothers, Andrew and Warren Gould. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Peffley was the oldest graduate of New Carlisle High School. She worked as an office manager for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance for 43 years. Eleanor was a member of the New Carlisle United Methodist Church and was a patient advocate and volunteer at Hamilton Grove for 12 years.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006, at The Pointe in Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle.
