Betty J. Peczkowski, 78, of South Bend, IN, died peacefully
surrounded by her loving family, at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 3,
2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She was born on April 26, 1928, to the late Walter L. and
Genevieve (Rybak) Lagocki in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong
resident. Along with her parents, one brother, Ervin Lagocki
preceded her in death.
On April 22, 1950, as Betty J. Lagocki, she married John J.
Peczkowski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He
survives.
Along with her loving husband, John of 56 years, she is
survived by her four daughters, Carol (Jerry) Grontkowski of
Granger, IN, Susan (Bill) Spier of Rolling Prairie, IN, Gail
Peczkowski of River Forest, IL, and Sandy (Tim) Golichowski of
Granger, IN; four grandchildren, Erin and Jeff Grontkowski, and
Luke and Hannah Golichowski; one great grandson, Elliot; one
sister, Gloria (Ernie) Piechocki of Kalamazoo, MI; one
sister-in-law, Betty Lagocki of South Bend, IN; and several
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Peczkowski was a member of Saint John the Baptist Parish.
She graduated in 1947 from South Bend Catholic High School. Betty
enjoyed gardening, cooking, and all the delights life could
bring. She was a wonderful devoted wife, mother, and grandmother
who deeply appreciated all of life's beauty. Her husband,
children, and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she
was the bright star of theirs. All who knew her admired her
graciousness, beautiful taste, her quick wit, her infectious
laugh, and the wonderful way she made people feel when they were
with her.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 in
Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN,
where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May
8, 2006, in Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev.
James Seculoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
